Locations:

Alfheim:

  Alfheim was the home of the Light Elves.

 

Amsvartnir:

  In this lake was the island Lyngvi, on this island was the Fenrir wolf bound.

 

Asgard:

  Asgard was the home of the Aesir Gods.

 

Barri:

  Barri was a sacred grove where the god Freyr and Gerd was married.

 

Bifrost: Trembling Path

  Bifrost was the rainbow bridge that connected Asgard and Midgard, the guard at Bifrost was Heimdall. Bifrost was built out of fire, air, and water by the gods. The three materials gave the three colors Red “Fire”, Blue “Air”, and Green “Water”.

 

Breidablik: Broad Gleaming

  Breidablik was the shining house of the god Balder in Asgard.

 

Byrgir:

  Byrgit was the well, where the two children Bil and Yuki from Midgard went, to get some water before they were stolen by Mani.

 

Eljudnir: Damp with Sleet

  Eljudnir was the palace of the goddess Hel, in Niflheim. The hall had very high walls, high banisters, and huge gates. Hel had two servants in her palace, their names was Ganglot and Ganglati.

 

Fensalir: Fen Halls

  Fensalir was the home of the goddess Frigg.

 

Fólkvangr: Field of the host, “people field” or “army field”

  Fólkvangr which means “field of the host”, “people field” or “army field” It was a place where half of those that die in a battle go for the afterlife, while Odin would receive the other half.

 

Gimli:

  Gimli was the court of the gods after Ragnarok. Gimli was the most beautiful place in the world, and Gimli had a roof made from gold.

 

Gjallarbru:

  Gjallarbru was the bridge that crossed over the river Gioll, and connected the worlds of the living and the dead.

 

Gioll:

  Gioll was the river that divided the world of the dead from the living. The bridge Gjallarbru crossed this river.

 

Gladsheim: Bright Home

  Gladsheim was the hall in Asgard where all the gods had their high seats.

 

Glitnir:

  Glitnir was the hall where the god Forseti lived.

 

Hel/Helheim:

  Helheim was the home of the dead and their ruler Hel.

 

Himinbjorg:

  Himinbjorg was the mountain where the rainbow Bifrost connected Asgard and Midgard. On this mountain the god Heimdall lived, the guard of Bifrost.

 

Hlesey:

  Under this Island the sea giant Aegit and his wife Ran, lived in their coral cave. It is believed that the island Hlesey is the island of Laeso in the Kattegat “Cat’s throat”. The island is between Jutland and Zealand in Denmark.

 

Hlidskialf: High Seat

  Hlidskialf was the high seat of Odin, where he could see out through the whole Universe. The throne was in the high tower of his palace Valaskialf in Asgard.

 

Hnitborg:

  Hnirborg was the mountain where the giant Suttung hid the mead of poetry and his daughter Gunlod stood guard.

 

Hvergelmir: Bubbling boiling spring

  The wellspring in Niflheim was called Hvergelmir from where the 11 rivers called the Elivagar came. Above the spring the dragon Nidhug gnaws on one of the roots of Yggdrasil.

 

Idavoll:

  Idavoll was the field in Asgard where all the houses of the Aesir gods stood. At Ragnarok “The end of the world” the field Idavoll would be green again and all the houses gone. New houses would be built again the most beautiful of them all would be Gimli.

 

Ironwood:

  Ironwood was a forest east of Midgard. In this forest lived the troll women who bore giantesses and giant wolves.

 

Jotunheim:

  Jotunheim was the home of the Jotuns/Giants.

 

Laerad:

  Laerad was the great tree that was around were Valhalla was built.

 

Lyngvi:

  Lyngvi was the island in the middle of the lake Amsvartnir, where the Fenrir wolf was bound.

 

Nastrond: Corpse Shore

  Nastrond was in Hel, where the dragon Nidhug ate the corpses that washed up on the shore.

 

Nidavellir:

  Nidavellir was the home of the Dwarfs.

 

Niflheim:

  Nifleim was to the north, inside somewhere under the ground were Helheim home of the dead.

 

Noatun: Ship Haven

  Noatun was the house of the Vanir god Njord, in Asgard.

 

Midgard: Middle Earth

  Midgard was the home of the Humans, it was connected to Asgard by Bifrost “The rainbow Bridge”.

 

Muspelheim:

  Muspelheim was to the south, and was the home of the fire giants and demons with their ruler Surt.

 

Sessrumnir: Seat Room

  Sessrumnir was the hall where the goddess Freya, welcomed her half of the slain heroes from Midgard.

 

Svartalfheim:

  Svartalfheim was the home of the Dark Elves.

 

The Northern Lights:

  In the northern hemisphere there was something called the north lights. It was belived that the jotun Gerd,  emitted this green color into the air.

 

Thrudheim: Place of Might

  Thor lived at Thrudheim, it was an enormous house with 540 rooms. It was the biggest house known.

 

Thrymheim:

  Thrymheim was the place where the giant Thiazzi and his daughter Skadi lived.

 

Urdarbrunn: Well of Urd

  Urdarbrunn was the well in the center of Asgard. The water in this well was so sacred that everything that came in contact with it, became white as an eggshell. From this well came 2 birds, white as snow. They are called swans, and from them descended all the birds, that borne the name swans.

 

Utgard also called Udgard: Outer Place

  Utgard was the place in Jotunheim, where the giant Skrymir tricked Thor with illusions.

 

Valaskialf:

  Valaskialf was the palace of the chief god Odin; it had a silver roof and a tower in which Odin could see out over all the nine worlds from his high seat Hlidskialf.

 

Vanaheim:

  Vanaheim was the home of the Vanir.

 

Vingolf:

  Vingolf was the house of the Asynjur in Asgard.

 

Valgrind: Death’s Gate

  Valgrind was the outer gate of Valhalla.

 

Valhalla: Hall of the slain

  Valhalla was located in Asgard, where there are 540 doors. The doors are so wide that through every door, can 800 warriors walk side by side. The roof were covered with golden shields, and the walls around Valhalla was made from wooden spears shafts.

 

Vimur:

  Vimur was the largest of the Elivagar Rivers, which were formed at the beginning of the world. The river went rushing though Jotunheim, the giantess Gjalp tried to raise the level of the river by urinating in the river. She wanted to drown the god Thor, but Thor threw a well-aimed stone at her, and she ran away.

 

Yggdrasil: The Tree of Life

  Yggdrasil was in the middle of Asgard, where the gods lived. Yggdrasil was the tree of life. It was an eternal green Ash tree, and its branches stretched out over all of the nine worlds, and stretched up and above the heavens.
